The design idea for the new “City Quarter” Lainz combines the positive qualities of the historical and national heritage site with new and innovative strategies for an optimal synergy.
Qualities of the historic site and its buildings are used to establish a new place with historic ambience. The identity of the historic buildings is preserved and will be optimized through adaptations and new additions.
The public space is endowed with urban characteristics, public spaces and open areas with natural stone and asphalt surfaces. Public institutions, culture, offices, shopping and restaurants supplement the programatic mix to create a “meeting place” for residents of the development and surrounding neighborhoods.
