MARAUDER is a crowd-tracking application for urban users interested in locating a city’s hotspots. In addition to identifying attractions in an area like location-based search engines, Marauder also gives users feedback on how popular these attractions currently are compared to one another.
HOW: Marauder tracks this information through Bluetooth detection technology. Users’ phones detect and tally the number of unique cell phone signals in a location and upload this information to online servers. These servers aggregate the data and provide real-time data reflecting how crowded certain places are.
